My trip to Panama City didn’t intend to include this bus ride from HELL to the city of David, Chiriqui.  
But, after a few days here I had a phone call from my grandmother to inform me that she’s still alive.
And, I should get on the bus to see her PRONTO!  
To escape the summer heat of Panama I decided to take an evening bus from Albrook bus terminal
to David, Chiriqui.

การเดินทางไปปานามาซิตี้นี้ครั้งนี้ไม่ได้คิดว่าจะขี่รถบัสนรกไปเมืองเดวิด Chiriqui.
แต่หลังจากอีกสองสามวันหลังจากที่มาถึง ได้จากโทรศัพท์ของ คุณย่าเพื่อแจ้งให้ทราบว่าต้องไปเยี่ยมท่าน  
ไม่มีข้อยกเว้น!!!  “…ขึ้นรถมามาเยี่ยมฉันในวันพรุ่งนี้ด่วน!!!!!...”
ในที่สุดดิฉันต้องหลบหนีความร้อนไปเดวิดในเวลากลางคืน

Bus terminal – Panama City.

สถานีขนส่ง - ปานามาซิตี้

Departs Panama: 7:00pm with a stop in Santiago.  It takes about 8 hours from Panama City to David.

ออกจาก ปานามาซิตี้ 7:00pm หยุดพักหนึ่งที่ ที่ Santiago ระยะเวลาเดินทางประมาณ 8 ชั่วโมงค่ะ! ทรมานมากค่ะ

On the bus and ready to go.  
The bus is very similar to what we have back in Thailand.

After nearly 5 hours, we have reached the town of Santiago.  
The atmosphere around the rest area.

“Prohibido Comer Comidas Que No Sean de Este Local”

In a plain English, “no outside food allowed in this eating area”.  You have to buy food from this vendor.
Which is the only choice you have for this bus stop.

คุณจะต้องซื้ออาหารจากผู้จำหน่ายได้อย่างเดียวเท่านั้น

ก็ได้!!  ลูกช้างหิวซื้อ “อาหารจากผู้จำหน่าย” ก็ได้!

The hardest part of this trip. NO VEGETARIAN FOOD.  
I told them I’ve been vegetarian for 3 years now and the reactions from them were “..why!?!!..”

Fried rice with “alitas de pollo” or chicken wings, salad and Coke. The cost was around $4.00 Balboas.
Panama is dollarized it uses US Dollars as its currency. So, $4.00 Balboas is $4.00 US.

I’ve arrived David around 1:30am and was very tired and exhausted from the bus ride.
I couldn’t really sleep on the bus because they play this loud and annoying Kung Fu movie.
As I have mentioned the bus was very similar to buses in Thailand with an
they speak Spanish in the movie.
I started next morning with a fresh smell in the air, coffee and a visit to my grandmother’s garden.

I and my cousin decided to go to Boquete – a small town tucked into the
green mountain highlands of Chiriqui Province.
With an altitude of  1,200 metres above sea level, its climate is refreshingly cooler than that of the lowlands.
